Jessamine

Jessamine Morgan was born to a wealthy family. Her father was a senior partner in one of the largest law firms in Albany, New York. She enjoyed history and law from a very young age. She grew up learning all the ins and outs of the political circuit from those her father worked for and sometimes had to defend in corruption cases. Sure, some of those times those people were guilty. But there was a reason many kept her father on retainer, he was a damn good lawyer, and he could get them out of any jam. She both admired and hated this about him; most of his work was mired in deceit and trickery. On the other hand she learned a lot from him. She promised herself she would be one of the honest ones. One of those that followed the letter of the law for those that deserved the rights they were being denied.

It wasnt until she was in college that she would become one of those that are denied such rights, between her junior and senior year. Her friends convinced her to go to a club in Albany. An S&M club, sure it wasnt normal but the girls said she needed to get off her high horse and see how the deviants lived if she was going to defend them. First taste of the rough stuff and Jess found she didnt really mind it. Somewhere in the middle of it the man lost control. A little too much play had gotten a good rise out of him. But as he asked her to retreat to one of the private rooms, she knew she shouldnt go. He nearly strangled her, actually those moments she cant truly remember. She woke up and she was in a mess of her own blood her skin felt like it needed a new body. He was there and he smiled and it wasnt human.

You are one of us now girlie. Lukoi and we take care of our own. I am impressed. I didnt think you would have the stuff to make it. He was oddly gruff and comforting in his way she supposed. Hell, she had only met him the night before. But it turned out it was two weeks before. No one had heard from her in two weeks. Reentry into her old life was hard. She missed a full semester as she adjusted to the new changes in her body but she was determined. Determined now that she knew what it was like on both sides. She had been transferred with blessing to another pack when she returned to school in Baltimore. The university was very understanding as she had very few credits to go until she could take her LSATs. She drove herself extra hard and her body had a hard time keeping up with the demands she was setting for herself. She pulled through the semester and the LSATs with flying colors. She managed to hide her condition when she was hired at the law firm that helped with the legislation that would make certain that shifters would not loose their jobs because of what they were. When you looked at all the facts and the precedence it was not a hard case to prove. But it would be easier to pass than to make people abide by it. She knew there was going to be fall out. But with her outlook the firm that she worked for decided that she should go to a more open minded country where the fight might not be so difficult. She was transferred to the Atlanta firm only a short time ago and she is making headway through the system already.
